National Mathematics Day was celebrated on 22nd December on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan by the Mathematics Department of Thakur Shobha Singh Government College, Pathalgaon. The program started with the worship of the idol of Maa Saraswati and Chhattisgarhi Mahatari and lighting of the lamp. On this occasion, various competitions were also organized by the Mathematics Department, in which students participated enthusiastically. In the poster competition organized on the topic Importance of Mathematics in Daily Life, Leena Toppo stood first, Sukanti Nag and Bharti Lahare stood second. place, Mrs. Amos and Jitendra got third place. Ritu Patel and Aman Tirkey told about the life of Ramanujan and the important works done by him through PPT. Mathematics question forum competition was the main attraction of the event. Students found the visual questions asked under this very interesting and informative. The team of Adarsh Mishra and Chanchal Vishwakarma secured first place in this competition. The Principal highlighted the importance of mathematics in his address. Besides, Prof. Pradhan explained about the life-related struggles of the great mathematician Ramanujan, while Prof. Markande explained about the application of mathematics in life. The stage was moderated by Jagrat Tirkey and in the end the vote of thanks was given by Srishti Sahu, a student of MSc Third Sem. Gaurav Aggarwal, Mausam Gupta, Rakesh, Amrita, Neha, Soumya, Kajal, Subhash, Dinesh, Nancy, Devprasad had major contribution in making the program successful.
